Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Circa (the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be legally able to enter into this agreement and comply with applicable laws.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for maintaining access to your device and login methods.
2. Phone Verification and Text Messages
- Circa uses SMS only to verify your account during sign-up and login.
- We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
- Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan.
- If you no longer want verification texts, you can stop using phone-based sign-in and delete your account from the Profile screen in the app.
3. Acceptable Use
Circa has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting unauthorized access, interfering with operations, violating laws, infringing others' rights, impersonating another person, spamming, scamming, harassing or threatening others, or submitting unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful content.
You can report or block another Circa user from that user's action menu. Reports are sent to Circa for review. Blocking also sends a report, removes the user from your list immediately, and prevents the accounts from reconnecting. We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. User Data and Content
You may provide information such as your display name, phone number, city and state, and friend/contact details you choose to add. Circa uses device location only to derive a city and state; exact coordinates are not stored or sent to Circa's backend. You represent that you have rights to share information you submit.
5. Third-Party Providers
We use third-party providers to operate the Service, including Supabase (backend infrastructure) and Twilio (SMS delivery for verification). Their systems may process limited data required to perform those functions.
6. Service Availability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Circa disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the Service.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or create risk for the Service or others. You may stop using the Service at any time. You may permanently delete your account and associated data through the Account deletion section of the Profile screen.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted at this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
